Seachem Flourish Excel 250ml Source of bioavailable organic carbon
Fluorish Excel provides a source of bio-available organic carbon, essential for all plants to grow properly. Normally derived from carbon dioxide, it can however also be assimilated from simple organic compounds (e.g. intermediate products of photosynthesis). The supply of CO2 in gaseous form does not exclude the use of Fluorish Excel and vice versa.
As the formation of photosynthetic intermediates and their utilisation occur simultaneously, the administration of Fluorish Excel is beneficial, regardless of whether or not gaseous carbon dioxide is added to the water. Alternating between the two methods works particularly well when the addition of CO2 can result in a sharp drop in water pH.
The preparation also has a strong reducing effect on iron, increasing the amount of Fe2+ ions, which are more easily absorbed by plants than Fe3+ ions. The final product of the photosynthesis process is glucose. In the subsequent stages of its synthesis, intermediates such as ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate and 2-carboxy-3-keto-D-arabinitol-1,5-bisphosphate are produced from carbon dioxide with the aid of light. Underneath these complex names are simple five-carbon chains. Fluorish Excel does not contain these compounds, but other compounds similar in structure, so that the plants receive the components they need in a "ready-made form" so to speak, without having to produce them from carbon dioxide and, through subsequent enzymatic reactions, can convert them into the compounds they need.
How to use:
during the first application or after a major water change (> 40% of volume), give one cap (5 ml) for every 40 l of water
thereafter, use 1 capful per 200 l, daily or every other day
in tanks with a large number of plants, the dosage can be gradually increased
measuring out a smaller amount of preparation is facilitated by the notches on the screw cap, each corresponding to a volume of 1 ml
