Seachem Equilibrium 300g Mineral ingredients
Equlibrium is a formulation specifically designed for plant aquaria to provide the correct amount of minerals. It does not contain sodium or chlorine (elevated levels of which can be harmful to plants). The product is suitable for use with any type of distilled water, deionised water or water obtained from a reverse osmosis filter. It increases the total hardness and stabilises it at the optimum equilibrium level with the carbonate hardness. Alkaline Buffer is recommended for regulating KH.
In contrast to competing products, Equlibrium does not contain sodium chloride (table salt). Both of these elements are not quickly utilised by plants and, moreover, the presence of chlorine may even do more harm than good to the tank's flora. Competitive preparations often contain sodium chloride (which reduces production costs), which, when introduced into the aquarium, can impair plant growth. In addition, sodium plays no role in regulating carbonate hardness.
Equlibrium only contains calcium, magnesium and potassium salts that not only support the fish's metabolism, but are also beneficial to plants. In order to raise the total hardness by 1meq/l (3dH) when setting up a new tank or changing the water, it is recommended to add 16g (1 tablespoon) of the preparation for every 80 litres of aquarium volume. Equlibrium can be poured directly into the water, although a more effective way of dosing the preparation is to mix it with approximately one litre of water. The resulting solution is slightly whitish and when added to the tank causes a slight turbidity, disappearing after 15-30 minutes.
Directions:
do not add Equlibrium when topping up evaporated water
the product is designed for use with distilled water, deionised water or water from a reverse osmosis filter
in the case of water from another source it is recommended to measure the total hardness beforehand
plants have different tolerances to the GH value, but it is recommended to keep it at 1-2meq/l (3-6 dH); similar values apply to carbonate hardness
